Pop-up micro theatre exploring feminist themes and what it means to be a woman in 2017.

Devised physical theatre, set to music exploring experiences of women both ‘with’ & ‘without’ children and the challenges they each face. We hope to leave audiences questioning the role of women in modern society and how they are judged whatever position they find themselves in.

We have taken inspiration from our own lives & experiences (one ‘with’ and one ‘without’) as well as recent pop culture and political events. We felt particularly inspired by the hashtag #neverthelesshepersisted*, and particularly Courtney Privett's illustrative take on this as well as Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s 'We should All Be Feminists' speech which has now become a Dior t-shirt slogan.

*On Feb. 7th 2017, while the Senate considered Senator Jeff Sessions’ nomination for U.S. attorney general (which was later confirmed), Senator Elizabeth Warren attempted to read a letter Coretta Scott King wrote in 1986 that condemned Sessions. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell described Warren’s denied attempt with three sentences:

“She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted.”
